"Intermission is required in Indian Movies. It is primarily because of the duration. A 90 minute film with a normal cinematic structure will not work in India. Our stories are not simple, they are complex. Our stories have multiple antagonists and protagonists. We inherited this multiple sub-plot narrative structure from stories in our culture, for example Mahabharata, Ramayana, Vikramadidtya's Tales etc. This structure is reflected in our films. All of it cannot be told in 90 minutes. Of course, I enjoy the smoke during intermission".
And I go "WTF???".
